VFW'S ROLE IN THE PASSAGE OF THE GI BILL FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
The founder of Christian publisher Living Epistles Ministries, Sheila R. Vitale serves as a pastor and teacher currently based in Port Jefferson Station, New York. Apart from the non-profit organizations she supports through Christ-Centered Kabbalah, Sheila R. Vitale personally supports several nonprofits including Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States.
Composed of nearly two million eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces, VFW is a non-profit organization that focuses on fostering camaraderie among veterans who served their time in overseas conflicts. Moreover, the organization also advocates for veterans and serves as their mouthpiece in the government.
Through the years, VFW has served as an impetus for countless projects intended to benefit veterans. One of these was the passing of the GI Bill for the 21st century in 2008. The bill aimed at providing expanded educational benefits to active duty service members and members of the guard and reserves who were then fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The journey towards the Bill's passage was long and tedious, but VFW managed to oversee the process until its completion.
