PROGRAMS OF DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS
The founder of Living Epistles Ministries, a Christian publishing company, Sheila R. Vitale is also an experienced teacher and pastor. Beyond her professional career, Sheila R. Vitale contributes to several charitable organizations, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
A nonprofit veterans service organization, Disabled American Veterans supports veterans and their families so they can live with the dignity and respect they deserve. For almost 100 years, DAV has offered a number of advocacy, outreach, and assistance programs, to help the men and women who served receive benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs and other state and federal agencies. Accredited by the Better Business Bureau, DAV helps over 1 million veterans annually at nearly 1,300 chapters nationwide.
Another program, the Mobile Service Office, is designed to meet the needs of veterans in small towns and other rural communities who cannot otherwise get the services they need. Not only do the Mobile Service Offices give people a space to receive and fill out paperwork, it also helps them professional help to file claims. Additionally, DAV offers disaster relief for veterans and their families, including financial aid and temporary shelter, among other resources.
