FEED THE CHILDREN'S DOMESTIC DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM
Approaching her service as a teacher and pastor with the perspective offered by having lived through near-death experiences and chronic illness, Sheila R. Vitale is the founder of Living Epistles Ministries, which is a publisher based in Port Jefferson Station, New York. Further, Sheila Vitale is a supporter of Feed the Children, which combats child hunger on both the domestic and international levels.
One of Feed the Children’s core initiatives is its domestic disaster relief program, which has been in operation since 1979. Responding to both natural and manmade disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and domestic attacks, the organization recognizes that speed is essential in the immediate aftermath of such occurrences if children and their families are to be protected.
It helps by delivering food and other essentials by the truckload to areas that have been affected by disasters and helped children in the wake of Hurricanes Andrew, Sandy, and Katrina.
With the help of volunteers and donors, Feed the Children’s network ensures valuable resources reach people on the ground quickly and invests its time into recovery and regeneration efforts as part of the Domestic Disaster Relief program.
