Disabled American Veterans – A Leading Nonprofit for Veterans in Need
Since she founded them in 2000, Sheila R. Vitale has served as pastor and teacher Living Epistles Ministries (LEM) and Christ-Centered Kabbalah (CCK), located in Port Jefferson Station, New York. Among other endeavors, Sheila Vitale supports a variety of charitable organizations, such as Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
DAV has provided support to veterans and their families for nearly 100 years. In 2016, the nonprofit helped secure more than $4 billion in funds for these individuals who have sacrificed on behalf of the United States.
Beyond raising funds, DAV hosts job fairs and organizes resources that assist military members with finding employment. The organization also facilitates transportation to and from medical appointments, and more than 670,000 veterans benefit from this service.
In addition to employment assistances and rides, DAV strives to represent veterans with disabilities and their families before state and local government entities. These efforts include advocacy for the rights and protections of widows and orphans of fallen military personnel.
DAV further spreads awareness and generates support through an annual convention and various fundraising events. For more information about the nonprofit and to learn how to get involved, visit www.dav.org.
