Shiluach HaKen: Why Chase The Mother Bird Away?

Parshas Ki Seitzei Mitzva # 545

“The eggs in the nest and the small chicks are for the most part not fit for eating, and by virtue of the obligation to send the mother away , most of the time the person won't end up taking the eggs since they are anyway not so good for eating.

If the Torah is so merciful towards these small beings certainly one should be merciful to bigger beings such as one's fellow man. One should not ask how can we give a reason for Shiluach ha'Ken when the Mishna says that one who says that Hashem Yisborach is merciful on the Ken Tzipor shall be silenced.

The answer is that Mishna follows the opinion that the Mitzvos do not have a reason and we are explaining the Mitzvos according to the opinion that the Mitzvos do have a reason. (Rambam- Moreh Nevuchim)

The Torah is training us with this Mitzvah not to be cruel and unfeeling. (Ramban)

Alternatively the reason for the Mitzvah is to teach us a lesson in Divine Providence, that we shall not do any action that may lead to the extinction of an entire species. The Divine Providence of Hashem Yisborach guarantees the continued existence of each species. Although only the human specie merits individual Divine Providence for each and every individual however Hashem does guard the existence of watch specie of animal collectively. The purpose of this Mitzvah is to teach us to keep in mind this important concept in Divine Providence. (Re'ah)”

DEFINITIONS

1.     The Shekinah in captivity is Abel, who is called eggs, because of their potential to generate the rectified Adam.

2.     Yount Adam, or Christ Jesus (your choice), is the male offspring of the Shekinah.

3.     Humanity, as we know it today, are the home of the Shekinah in captivity.

4.     An Israelite  is the person that the male offspring of the Shekinah is found in.

5.     Mankind is the host, or house, of the spiritual principles named, and all of those principles, good and evil, exist within mankind.
